Not a centre, not a goal scorer, and not a winner (in the NHL).

The 3 biggest things that seem to inflate guys contracts. A 4th could be being a UFA, I guess?

EDIT: Also, played with John Tavares who made his points improve by almost 30. There isn't really any justifying him wanting Matthews money.

Let's not forget Nylander came in with a Drysattle ask. He got less but of course they come in high. And Marner's Dad already said the team expects Mitch to give a discount while giving others max dollars. You could be right.

agree with the article as far as the supposed promise to Nylander. Sorry that's called a no trade contract. Can Dubas go back and say that you PROMISED to be a 7 million
dollar player ? If Dubas could revisit that rumored Pesce trade it would be a no brainer.
Toronto has players of the same style and approx talent level as Nylander. He is
easier to replace because they have other young talented wingers with unknown
ceilings. He still is someone that would bring back value in a trade. It would help their
cap situation and help fill some team needs. I said this before but the Leafs are
just a few moves away from being really hard to handle. And that's from a long-time
bruin disciple . They didn't run and hide from the bruins, they just needed a little
more variety. Some depth , a couple of bigger stronger types that fill that penalty kill,
hard to play against role.

Trading Nylander helps in a lot of ways, especially if it brings back a right handed defensemen with a lower cap hit.

Marner is a better hockey payer than Matthews. He deserves more but I think he will settle for $11m, 6 years.
